Wow! I walked in this coffee shop and I was sure I was back in San Francisco. Same ol' cozy and shabby feeling than at my local independets shops in Noe Valley. These guys have a lot of different pies and sandwiches in addition to great coffee and pastries. I had a basic stake sandwich, it was pretty good and I will surely be back to try something new.

Loved the facturas and other Argentine pastries, empanadas, affordable food, the laid back atmosphere, and a good cup of coffee without having the feeling of being rushed out just because you're trying to get comfy down in South Beach! Kudos, Panizza!

3.5. This stretch of Lincoln often gets overlooked in favor of the sexier part east of Alton. Doing my best to shine light on as many businesses as I can, I feel duty-bound to remind people about Panizza. From the reviews, it seems as though its heyday was in the not-so-recent past and things have slowed for them. I think there are some elements worth re-visiting if it's been a little while since you've stopped in. To begin, I must impart this caveat: I didn't dine here nor did I purchase a traditional meal. After a weekend of eating like I had broken into Willy Wonka's Factory after-hours, I needed to chill out and get some of my sexy back (in other words: starve myself, drink wine and hope that my stomach flattens out). Knowing that I needed something to accompany my Chliean cabernet sauvignon, I stopped into the unfamiliar storefront in search of goodies. I found them. Empanadas, people. Empanadas. Start and stop with these bad boys. I ordered four and in order from most enjoyed to least (which is relative because I enjoyed all of them): Chicken: pulled chicken with delectable seasoning. Many people say that chicken's boring. It doesn't have to be. This proves why; Caprese: a nice standout. I was pleasantly surprised that the empanada had a crunch to it. The texture and balance of the ingredients made this a standout; Cheese & Onion: it's cheese & onion. 'nuff said; and Mushroom: another cheesy mix, the saltiness of the mushrooms added to the savory goodness of the pastry. Eating the empanadas whilst drinking wine (and watching trashy tv) made me feel delightfully European. Had I dined in perhaps I would change my tune/review. But, for a light take-out around $10, Panizza provided a much-needed break from the usual Sobe quick food fare.

GEM ON LINCOLN ROAD If you have not eaten at Panizza, you have truly missed a gem on Lincoln Road. Argentinian cuisine, the food is truly exceptional. Best empanadas on Miami Beach!! We just finished yet another Sunday breakfast - Scramble Panizza is not to be missed-perfectly scrambled eggs with pieces of ham and french fries. Pastries are savory and great value. Service is always outstanding and welcoming. Once you experience Panizza you will return often. Kudos to a restaurant well done!!!!!

If you're looking for a hot breakfast this is not the place for you. Spinach omelette was tasteless (the menu insists there are two types of cheese in there but my mouth begs to differ) and the eggs rancheros was a pile of beef, eggs, and tasteless cheese in a pool of grease. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was not sourced from the most flavorful oranges, but it WAS fresh-squeezed at least. And perhaps the pastries are pleasant, but we didn't try any.

Like the other reviewers. There service is just horrible. It just seems that they are bothered when you ask for assistance. That being said their food baked goods etc are yummy. I really enjoyed the crossiants. The vibe of the place is european cafeish. It is small not many table but comfy. I

Spinach pie is delicious!!! Have also tried their omelette with salad on the side. Food seems to be fresh and tasty. It's a great place to relax and people watching. Quite corner of Lincoln road - Between West Ave. & Alton Road.

stopped here for a quick bite, their ham and cheese empanadas were really good and so was their fresh squeezed OJ.

I love this place! I come here whenever I'm in Miami. The empanadas are delicious, but my all-time favorite thing to get is their facturas. YUM. They're 95 cents each and oh-so-delicious. They also have the option of buying day-old mixed bags of facturas for $2.

Love the comfortable home feeling I get here! The owner came up to my table and introduced herself, which I appreciate as many places won't even have the owners there most of the time! Cutest little hole in the wall. Everything is reasonably priced as the places near by arent due to the location. I usually have the coffee and pastries from here. Pastries are self serve! Which means you don't have to be shy if you go for seconds or thirds! Amazing dishes such as the delicious Argentinian steak & chimichuri sauce. The empanadas are to die for. By far my favorite place in the perfect location!

  • Kiki P.

I absolutely love Panizza. They have the best Argentinian empanadas and pie. My absolute favorite is the chicken empanada and the spinach pie. You can not find anything like it elsewhere. The food taste fresh and it's always delicious. It is an awesome place to go sit for happy hour and not deal with crowded loud places. The tables outside are great for people watching and their wine selection is great. They have great happy hour prices and amazing tapas. Sunday brunch is also excellent. I often go back to just get some of their delicious fresh pastries. Great atmosphere. Great location. Great food.

WATCH OUT. not only their receipts say "TIP IS NOT INCLUDED" but last time i was there, the cashier actually circled around the text (when she gave me my change) to make sure i was "aware" that "TIP IS NOT INCLUDED" when it clearly is, as one of the charges is "included gratuity" of 18% BTW. i even uploaded a picture just for you, person with trust issues! nice. snakes are at it again.... youve been warned.

Panizza is kinda hidden while being under your nose at the same time, seriously. You'll miss it, if you don't look for it. Its an unassuming little Argentinean restaurant disguised as a coffee shop. It's small like a coffee shop, it's got outdoor seating and a counter like a coffee shop, but their menu is pretty elaborate. Full of pasta dishes, sandwiches, empanadas, deserts (like flan), and a full wine selection. To find it, walk West of the westernmost edge of the pedestrian part of Lincoln Road. Think Regal Cinemas, and walk a half a block west. It's on the northern side of the street. ¡buen provecho!

Everything about this place is far above average. Food, drinks, service, atmosphere and price. Cozy, beautiful, cheerful, homemade but EXPERT cooking. This is a wonderful place to come and indulge yourself.

If I could have breakfast, lunch and dinner at Panizza i would! My weekend is not complete if I don't have their coffee and facturas. AND one of the very few places that serves Quilmes beer. Highly recommend.

I got introduced to this place by a fellow yelper Shawn P..and been hooked ever since..by far the best spinach empanadas and pan de miga sandwiches! The place is tiny but so inviting and if weather permits ..is nice to seat outside...dogs are welcomed! If you like argentinian food..then this is def a good spot..I have my eye on trying their quiche next time! And yes...eye candy here is always a beautiful thing ;)

IvHave only had breakfast/brunch here...we almost always get the scrambled paniza (scrambled eggs, mozzarella, ham, and french fries) and beef empanadas. Food is decent portions for breakfast, service is always great. Prices are about average for Lincoln road. Good little restaurant/cafe for breakfast/brunch.

Panizza Bistro has the best ricotta cheese cake and of course their siganture argentine pastries to enjoy while sippong a cortado coffee... It's been in Miami Beach for ever and a favorite spot for us locals!

  • Merlina R.

Love it! It's toward the end of Lincoln road, on the same block as most hotels on west ave. authentic Argentinian empanadas and pastries and REAL freshly squeezed OJ, definitely finding my way back here any time I'm in Miami! The service is great, we were greeted with smiling faces and quick servers.

I was in a very desperate search for wifi somewhere near Lincoln Road. My trusty Yelp iPhone app came in handy and led me to Panizza. I found a tiny table to set-up shop inside and was quickly waited upon. Before I decided on what I wanted to nosh on while working, I got a good look at the empanadas, pies and montaditos. It all looked too good! I ended up ordering a chicken empanada, cortadito and grabbed a dulce de leche factura from the pastry bar. My chicken empanada was served very hot but once it cooled down, I took a bite and it was delicious. My choice of factura tasted fresh and left me wanting to try even more. Not wanting to go crazy early in the morning, I fought the urge. All in all, not a bad breakfast for five bucks. I hung out here for a good couple hours and the waiters didn't seem to mind. They kept coming by asking if I wanted something more which was thoughtful. It was a great place to do some work although not the kind of spot you want to try if you like to do your work in silence. Instead, this place is abuzz with groups of different people chatting over delicious Argentinian fare. I personally like getting things done in environments like this so the next time I find myself in need, Panizza will be my choice.

Met some friends for brunch here. I ordered the iced latte, tuna & cheese panini w side salad. My sandwich was served on French bread instead (cold) but I was very hungry and it was very fresh. The service was good and the food was fresh and tasty. My friend ordered the eggs rancheros and enjoyed it. My other friend enjoyed her stuffed tomato. We sat indoors so it was airy. It's a comfy casual place away from the hordes of tourists on Lincoln Rd. Pricing was pretty reasonable for Lincoln Road as well.

  • Mike M.

From the street, this place looks promising, but that's where the good part ends. This is possibly the loudest coffee shop I have ever visited. The barista needlessly slams the portafilter on the wooden counter like an angry ape every 30 seconds and the cappuccino machine is louder than a band saw. You can't have a conversation indoors so the nice decor is wasted. Sitting outside isn't much better as we were greeted by the smell of dumpster water running down the alley into the street. The service is pretty poor - unattentive waiter and the folks behind the counter act like they are doing you a favor by making your coffee. With a properly trained staff (sometimes a tall order in South Beach), this place could be great.

  • Air Rick H.

Good atmosphere. Great pastries @ $.95/ea. The atmosphere reminds you of a boutique bakery. Feels very homey. The pastries here appear to be fresher than Charlotte Bakery. This is a good place to stop by for breakfast but be warned that it can get busy on the weekends Empanadas here were okay and not as good as go go fresh. I got the ham and cheese empanada and it was semi warm and some of the center was a bit cold. They could have toasted it more. The crust on the empanada was not as crisp and crunchy as go go fresh.

  • Brian M.

I really wanted to like this place because it is so close, easy walking distance to my home. And we need an alternative to Icebox and Balans. The service was abysmal even by south beach standards. The waiter didn't bother to bring milk or cream with my American coffee which I should have asked for quickly before he walked off with a huge tray full of drinks for other tables. I drank it before it became cold and figured I would enjoy it with milk on my second cup. Wrong. The waiter informed me that they charged $3.10 for each cup. Huh? Is there such a thing as discriminating against gringos who drink 3-4 cups of coffee with their breakfast? Is $12.40 for coffee reasonable? Are they trying to keep the gringos to a minimum by charging for coffee like this? Most Americans I know would simply not go back. Local House from what I read on Yelp used to charge for each cup of Lavazzo "American style coffee" but they have since gone with the American tradition of free refills. But back to Panizza, I must say the chicken empenada was quite good and Ranchero Eggs, although a bit spicy, were quite good, too. Only complaint there is they should check on you or just bring ice water because the dish requires it. Other problem which Panizza probably can't do much about is the garbage truck that pulls up alongside the restaurant to empty garbage. Some idiot came up in a SUV and is beeping at the truck. A woman walking by somehow pissed him off and he's like I'm beeping at the truck as if the garbage truck is going to stop emptying the garbage and move for Mr. Miami Beach entitlement prize winner. It was part of the experience that wasn't pleasant but bar moving the location, there is nothing they can do. Is there anything that can be done about these mad honkers who disturb the peace and tranquility of Miami Beach by honking at pedestrians or other cars that don't move fast enough for their satisfaction? And with Florida's Stand Your Ground laws who wants to get into a fight with anyone? NYC passed laws that make it an expensive violation to honk unless there is a serious problem. NYC is now hornless for the most part and it makes for a very pleasant urban experience unlike Miami Beach which is who can honk louder and longer or more frequently! People give it a break with the horn. Give me the prize for most off topic review. I was going to give Panizza one star but the food was better than that. The service loses one star and the coffee indiscretion loses 2 stars!

2.5 stars Hadn't been here in a few years and wasn't impressed this time around. I do like the self serve facturas (sweet rolls) in back and the locals atmosphere and outdoor dining of this place, but I thought the rest of the food was subpar along with the service.

  • Marc Aka Max H.

Have only had breakfast at Panizza, and their food is yummy. Great pastries that you pick yourself. As is all of their prepared coffee based drinks. Waiter service is consistently poor- doesn't matter who is serving you, they are overwhelmed, inattentive, take too long to take order, bring food, follow-up, clean table. That being said, it is still a great neighborhood place, just don't expect good service. There is a consistent group of regulars who can occupy outdoor tables for hours nursing an espresso, but that adds to their charm, as long as you are also at a table, not standing around and waiting for one. Indoor seating is crowded and incredibly NOISY.

Almost as great as my obsession with pho is my obsession with empanadas. Every morning when I leave the house, I think about empanadas. When I travel around Miami, I always look for new places to satisfy my empanada cravings. The other day I noticed this little bakery on Lincoln road (just west of Alton) that had the word 'facturas' on the window. I knew they would have empanadas. I didn't have time to stop. I was sad. Today I had the time to stop in. In the back they have this DIY factura buffet. The medialunas are reeeally good. The shortbread cookies are amazing! Honestly, I bought one of everything and they are all good. :) And only $0.95 each. I also bought a chicken and a beef empanada. A little pricey at $2.50 each, and not the BEST I've ever had, but solid. I will definitely be back to try the other fillings. Service was not with a smile. The staff was a little hectic due to a 9:30 am crowd. But I ordered my goodies and a cafe con leche to go and left happy.

I love this place. Me gusta mucho Panizza. I work in the area and because my first friend in Miami was an an old lady from Cordoba I live love sandwich de miga. This place makes great ones and I eat them almost everyday. When the owner found out I was going to Argentina for a month - he made the whole staff only speak to me in Spanish to help me prepare. The food and the staff here are so great. They made feel just like a " Porteneo " ( nickname for guy from Buenos Aires ) even for a little while I was in Argentina. I wanted to add that I had a Rotary meeting here last week because I has some guests from Argentina in town - they closed the back of the place off for me and 20 plus guest ---- The owners made it look like an elegant restaurant for the night and my guest were impressed. The made me look like I ran the place -- gracias !!!

This place is pretty good. The food is nice and the coffee is excellent. I feel safe ordering pretty much anything from the casual menu whenever I'm in the area for lunch. The sandwiches are well put together, especially the "Lomito". Price is great for the area. I would give this place 4 stars but there are two problems. First, the service is completely unacceptable. The waiter I've had the couple of times I've been there seems to forget that he has to wait tables. Had to flag him down for everything, from refills on water to the bill. He just disappears sometimes and I had to go to the counter to get my water refilled. Second, the place sits right next to an alley that stinks! It is impossible to sit outside without foul odors floating in the air. Overall, I decided that I'll just order out. It will save me from the terrible service and smells.

Gotta Love It! Had a business meeting with 3 friends at the local bistro and this was my 3 time here. I had the chicken grilled salad which was nice but nothing out of the ordinary, a spinach/ricotta cheese empanada and a pastry. The empanada was a little cold inside. Pastries were good. It says wifi in the store profile here but that was not the case. The value was good and I just love the feel of the place. The curved corn window and high ceiling just do it right. With a little effort on the empanada on cooking technique and wifi I would have given this a 5 star as a bistro.

  • Josh R.

The food here was tasty, and the coffee was good. I also can say I enjoyed the ambiance, but I was a little put off when we got the bill. We were simply drinking coffee Americano, ok it is good coffee so paying 2.40 is reasonable especially being in South Beach. My first cup was only 2/3 or so full and I had a second cup as did my friend, so on the check we were charges for 4 cups. This is drip coffee in a pot not expresso not some fantastic new thing, sell me a cup and come around and refill it, and furthermore if you are charging 2.40 for every cup, fill my cup to the top. The service as was mentioned in other reviews was just ok but certainly not bad. I still say stop in for the food which is tasty and reasonably priced, but since you are gonna pay get some expresso or something.

Great empanadas. Great "pies" (think Chicago style pizzas in filo dough) Abysmal service I always rate for food and want to trash them for horrible service, but I remain consistent while staring at that single star.

I'm biased... i was raised in argentina and this is a slight copy of your every corner argentinean cafe. Coffee is good and a perfect alternative to the local over roasted starbucks coffee. We had some facturas (argentinean pastries) that are tasty but has to be snatched early morning. Stop by have a cortado and a medialuna to have a small taste of Argentina.

  • Victoria L.

Great morning "catch up with your friend" place in the neighborhood. I loved the locals feel of this cafe, non-touristy and cozy. We went for breakfast: pastry, eggs and coffee were excellent. The fresh squeezed carrot juice was a bit bitter and overpriced. Service was ok, they were very busy that morning and I only saw 2 servers in the whole place.

  • A S.

Consistent good food, great facturas and ok coffee. Everybody keeps saying "don't forget to get a cafe con leche, it's the perfect compliment for the facturas". It sure is. But it must be well made. For me, it's always a miss or hit, depending on who's there. All in all, I've been coming here since they opened and, considering they don't run out of facturas and they're not very expensive, I will keep going back.

  • Lara S.

I love this place. The empanadas, facturas, cafe...it's wonderful! I like the cozy feeling inside too. This is a place I love to come for lunch on my own or to pick up some empanadas before traveling. They have a good selection of empanadas that range beyond the typical including corn and cheese, spinach and cheese, and caprese - as you can see, it's vegetarian friendly! The facturas are the best I have tasted. You get a little basket, fill it up and then they box them for you to take home. Don't forget a cafe con leche because they are the perfect compliment to the facturas.

Food is good, will have the Spinach Pie next time instead of the Tortilla. Spinach and Ricotta empanada very good. Ricotta Cheesecake was excellent- very tasty and great texture. Pastries looked good too. Service was not very good; not very helpful or welcoming. Empanadas $1.85-$2 Pies (Savory) $4.95 Tortillas $4.95 Paninis/ Sandwiches $7-$9 Pizza $10-$12

The breakfast was acceptable other than the overly greasy eggs. Nothing to rave about, it seemed slightly better than standard diner food. Service was particularly slow, and my order was brought out incorrectly on the first attempt. Adding the missing egg to my croissant took 6 minutes. What warrants the 1 star rating is the absurd and unacceptable way I was treated when I went to pay with a Groupon. If you aren't aware, Groupons are to be accepted by stores simply by showing the Groupon on your phone; they do not need to be printed. To the cashier though, this was unacceptable. After getting into a shouting match for a few minutes over the cashier not following the terms of the deal with Groupon, he decided that he needed to hold my wife hostage while I walked three blocks through an unfamiliar neighborhood to pay $2 to print the Groupon at Kinko's. All this while I was supposed to be enjoying my vacation in Florida. Unacceptable. Luckily Groupon, being the star that it is, refunded my money and all I ended up paying was the $2 to Kinko's which is all I would be willing to pay to eat at this place again.

As a local, I have eaten here many times before and was usually satisfied with the food although the service was mediocre. Today was bad and I will probably not be back. I ordered breakfast with "coffee". The waiter asked "American coffee" and I said yes. He brought me a cup of black coffee and I asked for milk. He never returned. I walked to the counter to get milk myself. The woman handed me a small pitcher of milk. I asked for a refill and he brought be another black coffee, no milk. I used the last drop of milk from the pitcher. He then charged me for 2 Americanos, over $3 each! I informed him that I didn't order an Americano, a drink made with espresso. The waiter told me that "you did order an Americano, it's the same thing." Since I never in my life ordered an Americano, I thought I was drinking American coffee which is what I asked for. The people at the table next to me over heard and agreed that he was wrong. We looked at the menu and could not see American coffee listed on the menu. The woman got up and said "Look, they have automatic drip coffee right there on the counter!" I took a picture to prove it! My breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and two small pastries ended up costing me over $25 with the coffee and gratuity added despite the poor service, a lot more that I would normally pay for breakfast. Somehow I don't feel like this is my neighborhood cafe anymore but more like an Ocean Drive overpriced rip off. For the extra $3-4 you got from me today, you lost a customer.

The food serves soooooooooo sloooooowwwwwwww... A salad takes 30+ minutes to serve. And the waitress is soooooo badly mannered... Spill water on me when she found we were not ordering any Coffee but just Asked for lunch. Won't come any more...

  • Aaron D.

Service is awful... We waited for 30 mins and had not got our meals. The staffs wanted to cheat on the bill for a higher price, which was absolutely different from the menu. I asked the waitress to re-type the bill again, but she refused and showed impatience to us. We finally got our correct bill by showing "their menu" to them, and the waitress angrily dropped the bill to the counter rather than took it to us. We needed to get bill by walking to the counter by ourselves.. This is the worst service I ever had from all the restaurants I've ever tried. The chicken is just like rock.

I love this place! I live a block away which is the only reason I discovered it & it quickly became a favorite. One of the most underrated restaurants on the Beach. Perfect spot for breakfast- delicious pastries, empanadas, montaditos (mini Spanish sandwiches), croissants, coffee etc. I love this cheese & mushroom torte- it's buttery melted on the inside and crunchy/crusty on the outside. They also started an amazing tapas menu at night which the owner told me is headed by their new chef from Spain. I recommend the chorizo, spanish tortilla, & bombas de queso. They have great sangria too. It gets pretty packed in the mornings so be prepared to order & go if there aren't any tables. A great local business to support!

You want Argentinean facturas?? THIS IS IT. I don't even think they are this good in Argentina! I would go there every weekend if I could. It is super yummy!!! Prices are a bit high (in my opinion) but then again, their rent is probably really high. Besides, for tasting pastries like that, it is ok. They also have a pretty good menu for food, sandwiches, salads, empanadas... etc. Service can be a bit hectic because that place DOESN'T stop. But I have never left that place unsatisfied. Been going there for over 5 years. I heard it is awesome to go there during the night time. Haven't had the opportunity yet, but about to ask my boyfriend on a date!

Its easy to become a regular here. You'll find me sipping an Americano and chomping away at empandas on weekends here. This place is perfect- a homey, cozy getaway from the fakery of the majority of Lincoln rd. Recommends: Arabian empanada- a spicy smorgasbord wrapped in a delicate yet delightfully chewy pastry shell.

Small place but great for breakfast. Their simple pastries are cheap, so fill up your basket with all that catch your attention. The coffee is first rate. Try them during the week when they may have elephant ears among the available pastries, they are world class and only $0.95. If you live within walking distance this should be your go to place for coffee and pastries in the morning

Great neighborhood place to grab breakfast. Although it sounds simple, they make this scrambled egg and cheese omelette on a sweet croissant that is sooo worth getting up for (no matter how late you got home). They also have great empanadas and pastries and perfectly prepared coffee drinks and freshly squeezed oj.

    (4)
  • Dong O.

mini cheese croissants to the face. mushroom & cheese empanadas are a delight in and around my mouth. The freshly squeezed OJ is crunk, but room temperature, not so sure how I feel about that. This place can get slammed on the weekends, so the service can sometimes be a flaw. all in all, this place rocks my Argentine socks.

Great vibe and location at the start of Lincoln Road Mall. The empanadas are top notch. Fresh dough with fresh ingredients, and not greasy. Spinach, meat, tuna, caprese are some favs. They also have emapanada pies that are like quiche. Also breakfasts pastries. Good place to hang outside and read thru breakfast and lunch.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
